Talk of Tacala

TEEING OFF FOR TACALA’S TEENS

Volunteers Sherry Key, Anne Marie Everly, and Melinda Files sold Mulligan tickets to the golfers.

Since 2015 our Team Tacala Scholarships for team members have been funded by proceeds from the Team Tacala Scholarships Golf Experience, a golf scramble tournament and so much more. On Monday, October 21st, under absolutely perfect weather conditions, Tacala hosted our ninth annual Golf Experience at the Founders Course at Greystone Golf & Country Club. Over 150 guests including our most valuable vendors and business partners were welcomed by 60 Tacala volunteers who were dedicated to making the day a one-of-a-kind experience for the 32 golf foursomes.

The festivities kicked off with a 7Brew Energy Bar provided by Southern Brew as well as other morning beverages which helped prepare the golfers for the annual putt off where all 128 participants circled the practice green with the mission to get their numbered golf ball into the same hole.  Only one putt made it into the hole and that belonged to our very own Chief of Development Officer, Michael Border!

Rives Construction wins the low gross score for the tournament

On the course, there were a few special twists to keep the EXPERIENCE exciting, and to give participants a chance to win some Taco Bell swag like the beloved taco socks and other prizes. Of course, it would not be a complete golf experience without the Taco Truck to provide everyone with delicious food throughout the day! Thanks to our friends at LuihnVantEdge for lending us the truck and for the team from surrounding restaurants who provided 5-star supreme service.

McGriff wins the low net score for the tournament

We ended the day with an after party where we had more great food and drinks and celebrated the tournament winners. The highly anticipated winner of our tournament was…. drum roll please….  Rives Construction for the low gross score and McGriff for the low net score!

All of our participants coming together at the after party!

The golf tournament is a favorite for many in Tacala and this year was no different. We would not be able to put this event on if it were not for the help of our volunteers and the support of our business partners including 21 returning and 16 new sponsors. With their help, this was the highest grossing golf tournament in Tacala history! Thank you to all of our sponsors and donors who see the value in investing in the future thinkers, doers, and leaders of our communities. Because of you, our team
